SERVICES FOR COMMUNITIES
Date: 5 November 2009
Dear Sir / Madam
Type of works: Carriageway Resurfacing
Location: Craigs Road, Edinburgh
Proposed start date: Monday 9 November 2009
General details
As part of an investment in excess of £30 million in Edinburgh's roads and pavements for 2009/10, ft carriageway in Craigs Road will be resurfaced commencing on the above date. The carriageway has bee prioritised because of its current condition and the works will improve both travelling experience and visual appearance of the surface. This work is scheduled to begin on Monday 9 November 2009 for a period of weeks, depending on weather and other circumstances.
Road use during the works
The contractors operating times will be between the hours of 18:00-22:00 from Monday 9 to Friday I November 2009 followed by 08:00-17:00 Sunday to Friday for the remainder of the contract. Street notice sigr will be displayed in the working area informing residents not to park. Please do not park on-street during these times
Minimising disruption
Due to the nature of the works it is necessary to close the road to allow them to be undertaken safely.
Temporary diversion signs will be in place and will be updated as the works progress along the length of road and I would ask that you follow the signed diversion route. We would very much appreciate your patience during any delays that occur. Throughout the programme, emergency vehicle and pedestrian access will ~ maintained. Where possible, we will also maintain access to businesses and residential properties. I apologise for any inconvenience, but hope you will benefit from the improved street condition in the coming years.
Our Commitment to Edinburgh's roads
The City of Edinburgh Council is committed to improving our roads. By the end of March 2011, more than £10 million will have been spent improving roads and pavements from 2008-2011. This is the largest amount spent on road maintenance over such a short period.
